Success Story: Software Product Development

Business Challenge:
Our Client, a Fortune 50 Healthcare organization, had identified a major challenge in their IT operations and database engineering environments, in creating a standard approach to deploying Oracle RAC database High Availability to mission critical applications. There were no enterprise standards and subsequently their environment was unmanageable and experienced unexpected application downtime.

Project Background:
After a large in-sourcing effort, our client committed to standardizing enterprise solutions for database environments, storage, networking, and Unix systems. This would allow for IT services to lower computing services costs, internal business units, and increase services performed for business units while reducing IT risks and exposure.

Talent’s Contribution:
Talent helped our client identify, plan, architect, and deploy a standardized approach to deploying Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), as well as Oracle Automatic Storage Manager (ASM) across both Sun Solaris and IBM AIX server platforms. We also identified and implemented base Oracle infrastructure standards, which included standardized Oracle storage, network, and Unix server requirements for standard builds to insure consistency across all database environments. During this process we provided Oracle support staff to help augment the client’s team to implement our combined solutions.

Results:
As a result of Talent’s and our Client’s combined efforts, we were able to achieve Oracle RAC standards for deploying highly available database solutions for mission critical application. We helped lower the total cost of ownership for our client in having consistent database build and operational standards across multiple platforms. In addition, our client has their critical applications available to the business meeting their availability needs.

COMPANY ACHIEVEMENTS

24 years of leadership

Talent has maintained the same ownership and leadership throughout its history in the Twin Cities, which has resulted in clear vision of the needs of local businesses and a strategic focus on supplying targeted resources to solve them.

Surviving the .com depression

Unlike much of the industry, Talent didn't specialize in Y2K solutions during the 90s. The company remained financially strong after the market changed and continues to thrive today.

Getting it right the first time

We don't know if it is our skilled recruiters who work so hard to match the right people for each project or if our clients simply have the most rewarding projects in the Twin Cities, but either way, we have consistently maintained low turnover rates and high staff retention.

Sticking with the in-crowd

They say you can tell a lot about someone by the company they keep. Talent is on more local preferred vendor lists than any other consulting firm and has a very strong local reputation. You can draw your own conclusions.
